Between the fish market and the sun bridge, a section of town that residents of Speyer lovingly call the “Hasenpfuhl“, the well-known Old Town celebration takes place every year on the second weekend in September. The "Hasenpfuhl“ with its romantic corners and alleys provides an excellent backdrop for Speyer’s Old Town celebration. It is hard to imagine a better setting for community celebration in Speyer than along the old city wall, along the narrow Speyer river, and in the shadow of a cathedral where human values are held so dear.
After this part of the city was renovated in the early 1970s, the Old Town Celebration came into being in 1976. The charm and warmth that have made previous Old Town Celebrations so successful and well-liked, will also serve to bring this year’s participants many happy and cheerful hours.
